Monthly Competitions
Photo competitions are held on the first Thursday of each month, unless otherwise announced (see Calendar). Typically, competition themes alternate monthly between open and a specific theme such as portraits, the blues, or blooms, which is intended to stimulate and challenge member creativity and originality. Any member in good standing is eligible to compete in any category which has entries from at least three members. Members must be the owner of the images they enter into competition. There is no limitation on the date an image was made; or on image size. Members may enter up to three entries in each category per competition; but not more than nine total entries combined. Winning entries (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place) are ineligible for future club competitions; but automatically eligible for a special annual Image of the Year for each of the four competing categories. Prints must be mounted; but cannot be framed. All entries must carry the members name, and that name must be on the back of prints to ensure anonymity.
The competitions include four categories (final determination of the proper category for an entry rests with the President, Second Vice President, and judge):

20%-25% of entries in each category are selected winners. Points to be awarded for each finishing place are as follows:
1st place 5 points
2nd place 3 points
3rd place 2 points
Honorable mention 1 point
At the conclusion of the year, each members competition points are totaled for each competitive category. One point is added for each competition entered during the year by category. The total of these points determine 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers for each competitive category. Winners are recognized at the Annual Awards Banquet.
